ABOUT EVAN

Evan Fontaine composes and performs new music. He eats new music for breakfast, but not for dinner. His music is delicious. His music is sentimental or satirical. Acoustic, electronic, or both. For films sometimes. He sings and he plays the saxophone. He does not eat the saxophone. He creates art about important subjects like birds, recycling, food, and the letter M.

Evan Fontaine (b. 2000) is from Greenfield, IN, but he currently lives in New York City. He recently graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a B.M. in Composition with a Minor in Music Scoring for Visual Media. During his time at IU, he studied with Felipe Tovar-Henao, Don Freund, PQ Phan, Aaron Travers, Andreia Pinto-Correia, and Han Lash. His work has been performed by several artists, including Nick Photinos, Haven Trio, and PRISM Quartet.

While he specializes in vocal and saxophone music, Evan’s reach extends to the fields of electronics, jazz, and the marching arts. His creative fascinations include audiovisual storytelling, the natural world, and human speech. This usually unfolds in tandem with other disciplines, like visual media and poetry, all with the express purpose of activating the listener's most vivid emotions and memories.
